You’ll report to the Sr Director, Global Brand Creative, and work daily with peers in Brand Creative, Brand Management, Sports Marketing, Consumer Engagement, Digital Direct, Brand Planning, and Brand Operations. We seek a Global Brand Creative Senior Principal Designer to lead our Basketball and Catalyst categories. As a key member of the Global Brand Creative team, you will develop world-class seasonal integrated marketing creative that impacts the Converse brand and business. Your role involves cross-functional and global collaboration to shape the brand as an authentic street-style icon for youth. You are a multidisciplinary creative experienced in Art Direction, Graphic Design, Typography, and Spatial Design. You thrive in collaborative environments, delivering innovative work across multiple platforms. You are a leader and mentor, capable of managing complex projects independently and guiding others through the creative process. With a passion for Sport and Fashion, particularly Basketball and Catalyst, you stay updated on trends, commission external talent, and are familiar with briefing and critiquing creative work. You are also enthusiastic about new technology and digital storytelling, understanding the importance of social and commerce platforms. You will oversee creative implementation across various channels, including photo direction, narrative development, graphic design, communication, moving images, and environmental design. A strong grasp of digital media and current design trends is essential. Respect, proactivity, and appreciation for diversity and equality are a must. You should embody Nike’s culture and values.
Minimum of 10+ years in art direction and/or design, preferably in consumer brands.
Bachelor’s degree in Design or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.
Excellent communication skills, including listening and coaching abilities.
Proven expertise in design skills such as drawing, typography, ideation, color, texture, art direction, and layout.
Ability to apply these skills innovatively to elevate brand standards, with a thorough understanding of design processes.
Experience directing photography, illustration, and working with external agencies.
Strong awareness of current trends in graphic design, lifestyle, and digital media.
Technical knowledge of digital practices and innovative tools.
Ability to interpret briefs creatively and clearly.
Experience collaborating across departments and with external stakeholders, embracing shared workstreams.
Passion for reinventing traditional workflows and pushing creative boundaries.
Good judgment, decision-making skills, emotional intelligence, and a growth mindset.
Strong verbal and written English communication and relationship management skills.
Passion for sports, sports culture, and lifestyle.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON Develop seasonal brand stories for Basketball and Catalyst categories.
Research and select photographers, talent, and collaborators; create mood boards to guide visual and style direction.
Innovate in visual and digital storytelling methods.
Create and update seasonal assets—imagery, copy, design systems.
Develop creative briefs and manage asset delivery documentation.
Create visual centers and toolkits translating complex concepts into accessible communication and guidance.
Manage multiple agency relationships, ensuring creative consistency and rigor.
Coordinate with teams across North America, Europe, China, and global partners, working with Innovation, Design, and Consumer Insights.
