Purpose/Description

The Drains Maintenance Worker 1, under general supervision, performs general maintenance and repair functions to keep Wayne County drains and wastewater facilities in repair. Duties may include pipe vegetation removal, use of various machines, repair electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, and repairing buildings or wastewater structures.

Responsibilities

Required Tasks Inspect and perform maintenance on open and closed County Drains including inspecting the culverts for debris. Inspect and perform maintenance on County sanitary interceptor sewers, including removing rags and debris from the siphons and regulators. Prepare reports of inspections and/or work progress. Perform routine custodial duties to maintain drains, grounds and equipment. Assist in the installation of flow meters. Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Educational Requirements

A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND A valid driver's license and a safe driving record; AND Must obtain a CDL Class A with an N Endorsement within 1st year of employment
