Description
Complete various tasks associated with Community Special Events, including set-up and take-down of equipment and general oversight of event activities. Essential Job Duties
What You'll Do in This Role: Work directly with the Community Events Manager and Supervisors to coordinate various Community Special Events. Assist the Community Events Supervisor in implementing traffic control at events. Set-up and take-down tables, tents, chairs, pedestrian barricades, no-parking signs, traffic control signs and barricades, risers, mobile stage unit and other equipment associated with community events. Assist in maintaining Community Events equipment at various storage locations. Coordinate volunteers at events with Event Organizers. Provide excellent customer service for those contacted in the course of work. Ensure work hours documented on the employee timecard are accurate. Practice the highest standards of safety associated with all aspects of this position. Other Duties:
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. In the absence of the Community Events Supervisor or Manager, the Event Maintenance I will report to the Event Maintenance II Community Events. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education or Formal Training and Licenses:
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. CPR/First aide/AED certified or the ability to get certified. Minimum Experience:
Prefer individuals with experience in organizing or volunteering at larger scale events.
You Have Knowledge of:
Equipment and tools used for community events. Customer service methods, including appropriate techniques for dealing with conflict resolution and disputes. Specific knowledge in the areas hired to coordinate or work. Safe driving and trailer pulling methods. You Have the Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Work with others while lifting, moving, and erecting tents, barricades, stages, and other equipment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities. Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor City facilities, roads, and parks. Involves irregular work hours and weekends; may include long days. May work in extreme hot and cold conditions, inclement weather and around water and slippery surfaces. Periods of mobility with light and heavy physical activity. Physical and Mental Requirements/Activities:
This work requires frequent exertion of up to 20 pounds of lifting/moving or force and occasional lift, move or drag 40 - 60 pounds or more while performing essential functions of the job. Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp, and turn objects. Ability to climb stairs; and stand, sit and walk for up to 60 minutes at a time. Acceptable eyesight to read printed material & a computer monitor and to operate office equipment. Acceptable hearing to communicate with others in person or through telephonic means. Acceptable verbal and conversational skills to effectively communicate with others via the phone, at meetings and to greet and assist visitors. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to recognize occupational hazards in work activities and take safety precautions.
