Job DetailsJob LocationNacogdoches, TXPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayDescriptionQualificationsPosition Summary:The Patient Care Tech supports the nursing staff by providing basic care to patients under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. This role plays a key part in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and the timely delivery of healthcare services, while upholding the standards and values of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.Key Responsibilities:Patient Care & SupportAssist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and oral hygiene.Provide peri-care, catheter care, hair care, and repositioning.Feed patients or assist as needed, monitor meal and fluid intake.Measure and record vital signs, glucose levels, bowel/urinary output, weight, and physical/mental status changes.Document patient data accurately and communicate changes promptly to nursing staff.Assist in admission, transfer, discharge, post-op, and post-mortem care.Support ambulation, range of motion (ROM) exercises, and patient mobility needs.Communication & TeamworkAnswer telephone calls and route messages appropriately.Greet and direct visitors with professionalism.Respond to call lights promptly and courteously.Participate in bedside hand-off reports and shift change communication.Collaborate with all healthcare team members to promote positive outcomes.Environmental & Equipment MaintenanceMaintain a clean and safe environment in patient rooms and unit areas.Strip and clean beds upon discharge and notify housekeeping.Clean and store equipment properly; report and tag faulty equipment.Monitor patient care equipment for safety and functionality.Replenish and organize supplies; manage linen and waste per policy.Compliance & Professional ConductAbide by all hospital, state, and federal regulations (HIPAA, TJC, OSHA, CMS).Complete all required training, education, and competencies on time.Follow safety protocols, report incidents promptly, and promote a culture of safety.Serve as a preceptor and role model to new staff, reflecting our Mission and Values.Adhere to Code of Conduct, social media policies, and maintain confidentiality.Other DutiesFloat to other units as required.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support departmental needs.Qualifications:Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or equivalent preferred.Prior hospital or direct patient care experience preferred.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.CNA certification (if applicable) preferred.Skills & Abilities:Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Compassionate and patient-centered approach.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation.Working Conditions:Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.Exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and cleaning chemicals.Mission and Values Alignment:All team members are expected to uphold and promote the mission, vision, and values of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, ensuring excellence in care and a commitment to patient satisfaction and safety.
