Furniture Repair Technician
to work in our High Point, NC showroom. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 101st year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, fabric-upholstered furniture, and accessories for the residential, hospitality and contract markets.
The Position
We are looking for an experienced furniture repair technician to join our team. This position will be based out of our
High Point, NC showroom , but be expected to travel up to 20 % to other locations.
Main responsibilities include: Identify the root causes of furniture issues and determining the most effective repair methods. Perform repair on furniture items, including fixing structural issues, replacing furniture upholstery, and refinishing surfaces. Type of repairs: 'burn-in' repairs which are heated resin fills.
Quick wood repairs in rebuilding corners and large gouged areas Structural frame repairs both case goods and upholstery Matching sheen to existing units. Dry brush and glazing Glass and mirror replacement Refinishing- sand, stain, and finish furniture to restore to its original appearance. Upholstery- reupholster chairs, sofas, and other furniture, blind stitching pulled seams and cleaning of fabric Component replacement- Replace or repair furniture components such as legs, handles, hinges, etc.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, including materials used and time spent, for inventory and reporting purposes. Properly use and maintain tools and equipment necessary for furniture repairs. Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work alone and to engage with other team members that will help achieve his goals. Able to travel between showroom and warehouses, depending on assignment and workload. Candidates who will be a good fit will:
Must be able to arrive on time and maintain regular attendance. Have proven experience as a furniture repair technician. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for repair and finishing work. Possess a strong knowledge of furniture construction and materials. Be a problem solver and have the ability to work independently on tight deadlines. Upholstery and refinishing certifications a plus. Physically able to lift and move heavy furniture during the repair process. Why should you apply?

This is a full-time day shift position based in the showroom with a work schedule of Monday-Friday.
Pay:
$18-$20 depending on experience
