Job Description At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress beyond the known. Joining Relativity means becoming part of a company where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. You won't just execute tasks; you'll solve unprecedented problems, helping develop rockets, factories, and a business from the ground up. Whether in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or corporate functions, you'll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work materialize rapidly. Relativity fosters creativity and technical rigor, and your voice will influence our shared story. This is a unique moment to leave your mark on our product, process, and culture, with Terran R gaining momentum. The most meaningful work of your career awaits. Join us. About the Team: The Systems Engineering team ensures that Terran R functions as a cohesive, high-performing, and scalable system. One team within the department focuses on building tools and processes for requirements management, decision tracking, and risk mitigation—enabling faster, more informed development. Engineers work across domains to understand complex problems, identify solutions, and implement them with deep technical expertise. The other team concentrates on the vehicle itself, ensuring all subsystems operate harmoniously, reducing technical risk, and guiding decisions throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. Engineers are empowered to lead significant efforts, from test campaigns to launch operations, and are trusted to improve systems across fluids, structures, avionics, and more. Regardless of the team, you'll be part of a high-impact, high-visibility department at a pivotal stage, where decisions today will shape our first launch and the company's long-term trajectory. About the Role: Balance technical, cost, and schedule constraints; evaluate options, investigate scenarios, and propose solutions. Coordinate and influence all aspects of vehicle design, including hardware, software, structures, avionics, propulsion, integration, testing, manufacturing, and shipping. Perform requirements decomposition and develop vehicle, system, and unit-level verification activities as the systems integration function. Develop and maintain interface control documents at the system and stage levels. Manage program risk through risk assessment and mitigation planning. Own stage qualification, acceptance, and hotfire test campaigns by defining test objectives, matrices, and plans. Develop and execute operational plans and vehicle-level CONOPs during testing, hotfire, and launch campaigns. Willingness to travel to test and launch sites, with possible shifted schedules or weekend work for critical milestones. About You: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience. Technical aptitude with a basic understanding of mechanical, fluids, and electrical engineering disciplines. Experience in design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of complex aerospace systems. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Nice to haves: Graduate degree in engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience. Ownership mindset with high responsibility for outcomes. Excellent communication skills for translating complex technical issues for broader audiences. Relativity Space is committed to transparency and fairness in compensation. Actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and other factors. Our total rewards include competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, an annual learning stipend, and more. For details, visit our benefits page.
