Full-Time | Direct Hire | Licensed PE Required About the Opportunity A mission-driven architecture and engineering firm based in Cincinnati is seeking an experienced Engineering Department Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on complex federal and healthcare projects. This firm operates at the intersection of purpose and innovation, combining best-in-class design technology with deep experience supporting VA hospitals, military campuses, and institutional facilities. This leadership role will oversee all MEP and structural engineering functions, managing both technical excellence and operational performance across the department. As a senior member of the firms leadership team, youll drive team development, resource planning, quality control, and project delivery in a supportive and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural disciplines Lead staffing, recruitment, and team development to support project pipelines Supervise department leads and assign workload across the engineering group Manage quality control protocols and ensure adherence to design standards Monitor project budgets, timelines, and technical performance Coordinate with Project Managers, Architects, and BIM professionals to ensure seamless delivery Guide department growth planning, performance evaluations, and professional development Participate in strategic planning with firm leadership and provide input on operational improvements Contribute to proposal development and project interviews as needed Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required 10+ years of engineering experience in A/E design, including 3+ years of supervisory or department leadership experience Experience with institutional or government projects (VA, DoD, GSA, healthcare, higher education, etc.) Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and discipline-specific software Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills Working knowledge of federal codes and standards (UFC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.) U.S. Citizenship required for project eligibility Why This Role Stands Out Executive-track role with clear leadership visibility 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, STD, and LTD 401(k) with 4% match + $5,250 student loan repayment annually Wellness stipend, in-house fitness programs, and ergonomic office setup $1,500 annual bonus for licensure/PE maintenance + CEU support Generous PTO + all federal holidays (11+) + winter break Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 remote Stable, values-driven firm with excellent reputation in federal space
