Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement:

The Extended Studies (EXST) Business Manager provides daily administrative, financial, and analytical support for programs administered by EXST, a UMD department under the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost (SVPAAP). The incumbent will work with numerous individuals on various levels, from coordinators to directors, to perform the job's responsibilities. The individual will work closely with the EXST finance team, colleges, and departments. Additionally, they will work with Academic Affairs, SVPAAP, University Human Resources, Payroll Services, and other departments throughout campus.

The Business Manager is assigned a specific portfolio of colleges and departments which offer EXST-administered programs. EXST-administered programs include Freshmen Connection, Winter Session, Summer Session (Sessions I and II), Professional Graduate Programs (PGP) Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer programs, Post-Bacc Programs (PBP) Fall, Spring and Summer programs, Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Fall and Spring programs, Southern Maryland Fall and Spring programs, Undergraduate Online Fall and Spring programs, Global Classrooms programs, and Dual Enrollment Programs.

This position provides support for various activities, including but not limited to budgeting, contracting, accounting, human resources, financial reporting, and other activities related to administrative and financial aspects of EXST in compliance with EXST and University guidelines.

A successful candidate should be enthusiastic, positive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and team-oriented, and proactively complete tasks with excellent communication and computer skills.

Physical Demands: Normal conditions in an office setting and no unusual physical demands. Ability and willingness to physically maneuver the campus. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Preferences: Experience utilizing accounting and financial procedures and systems in a higher education setting. Experience utilizing Workday financial and HCM systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and client relations skills. Desire to work within a team-oriented environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional human resources, payroll, finance, accounting, procurement, or travel coordination experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable human resources related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
