ROLE AND PURPOSE:
The Director of Career and Technology provides leadership in the implementation of career and technology programs. The Director works collaborative with central departments and campus principals to ensure the development and delivery of all career and technical education curriculum and instructional programs are implemented with fidelity and provide workforce development opportunities for students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution Valid Texas teacher's certificate preferred Valid TEA Career and Technology Education Teaching Certificate preferred Experience:
3 years District or Campus level leadership/administrative expertise driving large-scale improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on Career and Technical Education (preferred) 3 years teaching experience MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEM:
Facilitate systematic partnerships between various educational institutions, agencies, and business and industry Create and foster a strategic vision for CTE pathways, including emerging industries, dual credit, certifications, and postsecondary alignment. Coordinate the continued development of instructional programs in all Career and Technology Education programs Lead the development, and revising of CTE curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis of need Involve instructional staff in evaluating, selecting, or developing instructional materials to meet students' learning process Supervise and support the CTE Coordinator and Specialists with managing and implementing programs and campus service and support to meet district student learning goals. Participate in the district improvement plan process to establish and review outcomes, strategies and activities supporting major classroom and instructional programs. Collaborate with campus, district staff, and strategic community partners in the evaluation of CTE programming, student progress and the development of continuous improvement strategies. Stay abreast of current trends and innovations in order to upgrade programs and integrate acceptable trends into the curriculum. Plan and provide professional learning for career and technical education teachers that supports instructional programs, incorporates input from teachers and principals, and is consistent with the district's mission. Integrate innovative instructional practices and technology into CTE programming to ensure students are prepared for evolving workforce demands. II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE:

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION IMPROVEMENT:
Work collaboratively with others in developing and implementing student learning goals that support the mission of the school district. Assume leadership in the reorganization and restructuring of various aspects of district and school programs when needed. Coordinates the review and analysis of multiple sources and types of data to identify educator-learning needs for improved student performance related to the CTE programming. Recommends policies, guidelines, and practices to address challenges impeding the initiation, implementation, or institutionalization of system-wide improvement. Works to align department support to classroom, campus, and district goals for student and education learning using data to monitor and measure its effects on educator and student performance. IV. PERSONAL MANAGEMENT:
Assume leadership in interviewing, recommending for hire, and orienting new staff members in the CTE departments Define and model expectations for staff performance. Encourage and facilitate the development of leadership among staff. V. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT:
Assist the Executive Director with the development of a budget for the Transformational Learning department based upon program needs, estimated enrollment, projected staffing, and other fiscal considerations. Develop and monitor a budget for the CTE department based upon instructional needs and projected staffing. Complete and administer grants including the annual Carl D. Perkins CTE Act Grant Application Coordinates acquisition of District resources, including materials and other resources that support the implementation of instructional priorities and the District professional learning plan. Comply with all regulations and procedures regarding fiscal management. VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
Promote a positive image of the district and maintain a positive working relationship with campuses, parents and the community. Articulates the District's mission and goals to the community. Encourages community and parent involvement. Work with campuses and parents to resolve curriculum and instruction issues. VII. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:
Seeks, accepts, and responds to coaching and feedback from supervisor, staff, and peers. Maintains a network of professional colleagues, membership in professional associations, attendance at relevant conferences, and exposure to professional literature in the area of CTE. Establishes ongoing goals for CTE to remain current in innovative and effective practices. VIII. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of CTE shall supervise and appraise the coordinator and specialists within the department. Demonstrates skill in coaching and conflict resolution. Provides for two-way communication and meets regularly with leadership team and direct reports. Recognizes and advances shared leadership by developing capacity for leading and learning. IX. MISCELLANEOUS
