The Finance Department of Lansdale Borough is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as Assistant Director of Finance. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a key leadership position responsible for supporting and managing the municipality's financial operations and long-term planning, ensuring sound fiscal practices, and contributing to the community's overall financial health. This role is a cornerstone of our departmental succession planning, designed to cultivate future financial leadership. About the Department
The Finance Department manages all financial aspects of the municipality, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. We are committed to maintaining a high level of financial integrity and transparency for the residents and stakeholders we serve. Along with typical municipal departments, the borough's operations include an electric facility serving more than 9,000 borough dwellings as well as a Wastewater facility serving borough residents and commercial customers. Responsibilities
Oversee daily financial activities, including cash flow management, bank reconciliations, fixed asset documentation, and the supervision of financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, including adherence to GAAP and GASB guidelines. Provide leadership and guidance to finance staff and help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports Coordinate outside audits, provide necessary documentation, and maintain robust internal controls. Serve as a liaison to other municipal departments and outside agencies. Assist in the development, administration, and oversight of the annual operating and capital budgets. Represent the Finance Director at meetings and events when necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Minimum of four to five years of progressively responsible municipal government finance experience, with supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and municipal accounting principles. Proficiency with automated financial software systems and Microsoft Office Suite; Experience with Caselle software ia a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Local Government Finance Officer (CLGFO) certification is highly desirable.
