About the Role
The Deputy Finance Director provides high-level support to the Finance Department and City leadership by managing day-to-day operations, guiding financial projects, and delivering accurate, timely reporting. You'll play a key role in budget development, audits, and compliance while leading a talented team of finance professionals. Acting on behalf of the Director of Finance and Administrative Services when needed, you may represent the department in high-profile settings.

What You'll Do
Lead and oversee the City's finance team ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
Manage month-end and year-end closings, financial statements, and reporting.
Direct the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and coordinate external audits.
Supervise payroll processes, accounts payable, and other general ledger functions.
Serve on the City's leadership team in developing and managing the biennial budget.
Research and implement best practices, new regulations, and industry standards.
Mentor and manage finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and teamwork.
What We're Looking For
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive finance experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and government finance standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to balance big-picture financial strategy with hands-on operational detail.
Valid Utah Driver's License and ability to pass standard pre-employment checks.
Preferred Credentials
Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) or equivalent professional certification.
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
