Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanical Specialist to join our team! In this role you will ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pump, motors, blowers, conveyor systems, and production machines. The ideal candidate will maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist I

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pump, motors, blowers, conveyor systems, and production machines. Ability to follow blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Maintains equipment parts, and inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. Sustains continuity among work teams by documenting, generating, and closing work orders that address irregularities, and continuing needs of the equipment. Performs electrical (110-220v) maintenance and repairs. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist II

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pump, motors, blowers, conveyor systems, and production machines. Ability to follow blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Maintains equipment parts, and inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. Sustains continuity among work teams by documenting, generating, and closing work orders that address irregularities, and continuing needs of the equipment. Performs electrical maintenance (24v to 480v) and repairs. Calibrates, modifies, and/or installs plant equipment as needed. Locates and prepares bid tabulations for materials, equipment and services. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; and trains other staff members on safe use of equipment.

Duties

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist I

Performs preventative maintenance on lift stations and plant equipment on a defined interval/schedule and documents maintenance concerns/resolutions in an electronic City database; providing action plans and status reports as needed.

Maintains equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Repairs, maintains, and rebuilds small pumps, motors, blowers, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment.

Ability to read and follow blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Performs electrical maintenance (110-220v), welding/fitting, general mechanic work, millwright, oil changes, and general custodial duties including mowing and trimming lawns.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist II

Coordinates contractor’s activities with operations. Provides oversight contractors working in the plant and inspects their work.

Locates vendors and prepares bid tabulations for parts, materials, or equipment needed. Identify build-up in lift stations wet well and schedule top cleanings of lift stations.

Fabricate and pipe fit components to efficiently repair equipment. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on lift stations and plant equipment on a defined interval/schedule and documents maintenance concerns/resolutions in an electronic City database; providing action plans and status reports as needed.

Maintains equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Work safely with voltage ranging from 24V to 480V

Performs personnel related duties including training and coaching

Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist I ($19.02-$23.78)

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

Must obtain TCEQ Grade “C” wastewater certificate in two years from date in position.

Two years of related experience.

Preferred:

Specialized training in industrial pumps, motors, and/or electricity.

Two years of direct experience repairing pumps, blowers, and/or motors

Millwright certification

Maintenance Mechanical Specialist II ($21.26-$26.57)

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

Must possess TCEQ Grade “B” wastewater certificate or Collections Class III Certification. Must obtain TCEQ Grade “B” within 18 months if not possessed at time of placement in position.

Three years experience in a paraprofessional related role.

Preferred:

Specialized training in industrial pumps, motors, and/or electricity.

Four years of direct experience repairing pumps, blowers, and/or motors

Millwright certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of industrial electricity and machinery. Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude. Ability to read electrical schematics, engineering blueprints, and equipment service manuals. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.
