Under the supervision of the Director, Radiology Operations, and according to established procedures, the MRI Coordinator manages the activities of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) section within the Radiology Imaging Department. This role involves providing technical guidance, instruction, and supervision to ensure efficient operation and high-quality patient care. The Coordinator performs all functions of an MRI Technologist and participates in staff scheduling, workload distribution, and annual performance evaluations. Key responsibilities include: Performing MRI examinations on patients of all ages, including newborns and geriatrics, following appropriate protocols. Demonstrating competency in IV venipuncture and maintaining documentation of IV competency education. Communicating effectively and professionally with patients and staff. Screening patients, guests, and personnel for safety compliance. Reviewing radiology requisitions and resolving discrepancies. Preparing patients for examinations, answering questions, and maintaining patient privacy per HIPAA standards. Using knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain high-quality images safely. Preparing and administering contrast media as needed. Managing staff schedules and maintaining departmental records, including budget and statistical reports. Participating in hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance. Maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring preventative maintenance, and managing inventory. Following workflow procedures for quality assurance and proper documentation in PACS and RIS systems. Participating in daily huddles, problem-solving, and quality improvement initiatives. Providing compassionate patient care and fostering a respectful team environment. Performing personal care duties and assisting patients as needed. Adjusting workload priorities based on emergencies and patient needs. Understanding policies related to IV contrast administration and responding to adverse events. Performing additional duties as assigned. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of accredited Radiologic Technology training, ARRT certification, and additional certifications in MRI, IV, and BLS. A minimum of two years of hospital supervisory experience is preferred. Familiarity with Meditech, Medrad, and GE systems is advantageous. Employment Details
