The University of Nevada, Reno, under the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources (CABNR), invites applications for a Research Scientist position in the Bisbing Lab, housed within the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Science (NRES), located in Reno, Nevada. This scientific leadership role will guide the lab's grant proposal development and enhance scholarly output, with a major emphasis on advancing the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Experiment (AMEX) initiative, a large-scale, applied research project focused on forest resilience and adaptive management. The successful candidate will combine domain expertise with strategic oversight to secure funding and drive high-impact publications in service of the lab's mission. Major Responsibilities: Lead comprehensive grant proposal development and submission processes, identifying funding opportunities aligned with laboratory research priorities Supervise and mentor a team of Master's-level scientists, providing guidance on research methodologies, professional development, and career advancement Develop high-impact manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, coordinating multi-author publications and ensuring rigorous scientific standards Collaborate with principal investigators to establish research priorities and strategic direction for the AMEX project Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful grant performance and compliance Foster partnerships with external collaborators, industry partners, and funding agencies to expand research opportunities Present research findings at scientific conferences and contribute to the laboratory's visibility in the scientific community Required Qualifications: Master's degree and seven (7) years experience in Forestry and/or Ecology and strong evidence of publication success Proven track record of successful grant acquisitions and peer-reviewed publications Experience managing research teams and mentoring junior scientists Strong project management and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Preferred Qualifications: PhD and a minimum of 5 years experience in Forestry and/or Ecology and strong evidence of publication success Licensure: A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license within 30 days of appointment.
