Direct Counsel, LLC is partnering with a prestigious global law firm to hire a mid-level associate for its
Business Restructuring & Reorganization
team in New York. This is a unique opportunity to join a top-tier practice that handles a dynamic mix of
creditor ,
debtor , and
distressed acquisition
work.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating at the forefront of complex financial restructurings and corporate reorganizations, often with high-profile and cross-border elements. This position is ideal for attorneys seeking substantive responsibility, direct client interaction, and long-term career growth in a highly respected legal environment. Key Responsibilities:
Represent
creditors , including hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions, in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings. Counsel
debtors
in high-stakes Chapter 11 proceedings and international restructuring matters. Advise clients on
distressed M&A transactions
and
private equity
investments. Draft, review, and negotiate a range of restructuring and transactional documents, such as purchase agreements and stockholder agreements. Manage the full deal lifecycle with autonomy, ensuring effective coordination among stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through proactive and strategic engagement. Qualifications: J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school. Admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing. 4-8 years of experience in restructuring, bankruptcy, M&A, or private equity transactions. Strong drafting skills and experience managing complex deal processes. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments. Client Profile:
The hiring firm serves a broad spectrum of corporate and private equity clients, recognized for delivering innovative legal solutions across complex industries and transactions. The Business Restructuring and M&A teams are nationally ranked for their ability to handle large, multifaceted matters with strategic insight and precision. Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary:
$310,000 - $435,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications) Bonuses:
