The USG is accepting applications for a Virtualization Administrator, Senior Level within the USG's Information Technology Services. This professional level position is responsible for maintaining the operation of on-premises virtualization systems and server hardware as well as cloud-based virtualization solutions Responsibilities
Designs, installs, supports, administers, and maintains Cisco UCS server infrastructure Designs, installs, supports, administers and maintains Cloud-based solutions Assists with design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of disaster recovery as part of ITS' overall disaster recovery strategy Responds to hardware, software, network and system failures; provides troubleshooting, analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions Identifies and provides solutions to on-premises virtualization and server problems as well as problems with their cloud-based equivalents. Assists database administrators, systems administrators, application specialists and developers with the installation, evaluation and testing of new on-premises virtualization, server, disaster recovery products as well as cloud-based equivalents. Engages vendors to evaluate relevant products Participate in on call pager rotation, respond to emergencies after hours Occasional need to perform maintenance and upgrades after hours and/or on weekends Occasional need to be in data center troubleshooting and/or installing/de-installing equipment Performs related duties as assigned Required Qualifications
Expertise in VMware virtualization systems Expertise in enterprise server systems Expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity solutions Knowledge of cloud-based virtualization solutions Knowledge of database management concepts Knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows server operating systems Knowledge of industry best practices Knowledge of system administration products and tools Knowledge of application protocols, advanced networking and multi-tier application architecture Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents Skill in decision making and problem solving Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public Skill in oral and written communication Ability to respond diplomatically to sensitive and critical issues Ability to effectively multi-task USG Core Values
