This is an advanced level position with technical work to provide specialized database and application support using Oracle and other vendors' database engines and products in an enterprise Unix or Windows environment supporting data warehouse information systems and services. This position will be part of a team that works with one or more of several databases, application servers, ETL systems and Business intelligence system. The software supported may include Ellucian Banner 9, Oracle WebLogic and/or Tomcat Server, Oracle Database, MS SQL Databases, as well as other products as required to support the enterprise systems and services. This position will interact with other teams that support associated integrated systems and will support the development and business analyst teams that are providing the creation and maintenance of the collection and reporting applications. This position will perform technical tasks independently in multiple operating systems environments and will work with senior level members to develop processes and procedures for new and updated information systems implementations using Oracle, MS SQL and other database applications. Tasks are varied in nature and often time critical. The successful candidate will possess a significant amount of experience in Oracle/Unix and some experience in MS SQL/Windows environments. They will be knowledgeable about issues related to the deployment of changes in a web-deployed, multi-tier environment. Responsibilities

Assists in administering assigned databases; assists with backup and recovery operations, database patching, and upgrades. Ellucian Banner Banner 9 experience. Proficiency in Oracle 12c or higher RDBMS and Weblogic/Tomcat or higher is required. Competence in Banner Student Information System and associated integrated systems. Experience with the following: Ellucian Solutions Manager (ESM), JAVA, Jenkins, and Redhat 7.x or higher. Maintain releases of Banner 9 applications, troubleshoot and fix errors in existing applications systems. Assists data warehouse team with development needs, query performance and tuning. Assists in troubleshooting and resolving a variety of problems and issues. Assists in developing software to automate processes. Prepares documentation of tools, procedures, diagnoses, repairs and requirements. Researches requirements of potential new services. Evaluates the performance of existing services. Assists in managing user accounts. Assists in deploying server operating systems; assists in managing system configurations. Assists in building test environments to evaluate changes prior to production. Provides workstation support for end users. Performs related duties as assigned. This is an on-call position that typically follows a team rotation.After hours work and emergency after hours work is required when needed. Required Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree or equivalent required. At least five (5) years related IT experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least two years of Information Technology experience working with the installation and maintenance of server based RDBMS software, in a multi-tiered Unix or Windows operating environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with using Oracle Database, WebLogic and or Tomcat web services and bash, or MS SQL database, IIS web services and PowerShell. Experience with centralized version-control, preferably GIT. Familiarity with IT automation systems, preferably Puppet. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The ability to work after normal business hours Knowledge of, and ability to do scripting as required for automation of routine DBA tasks. Ability to function well and maintain customer focus in fast-paced, stressful environment.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of varied database administration duties. Frequent changes to industry standards contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to administer assigned databases. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a variety of USG and institutional operations. This is an on-call position that typically follows a team rotation. After-hours work and emergency after hours work is required when needed. CONTACTS Contacts are typically with other system office employees, college and university staff, vendors, contractors, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The work is typically performed in an office.
