Speech/Language Pathologist District Wide

Qualifications: Appropriate State of Illinois Professional Educator License with Speech & Language Pathologist endorsement Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation License - Speech & Language Pathologist Vision: The speech and language therapist applies professional understanding of child development, learning, instruction, language therapy, interventions, and special education law and regulation to support the students of District 108. The speech and language therapist uses professional knowledge, evaluation and intervention to minimize or eliminate speech and language deficits that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive benefit from the district's educational program. He or she consults with administrators and teachers in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions for special education students and at times for students in the general population.

Job Goals:

All students meet or exceed state expectations for learning as assessed by the Illinois Standards Achievement Test All students identified for speech and language services meet IEP goals Families, teachers, and administrators will be informed and supported to enhance student success Responsibilities:

Planning and Preparation

Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the speech and language therapy Establish goals for the therapy program appropriate to the setting and students served Demonstrate knowledge of district, state and federal regulations and guidelines Demonstrate knowledge of resources, both within and beyond the school and district Plan the therapy program, integrated with the regular school program, to meet the needs of individual students Develop a plan to evaluate the therapy program Environment

Establish rapport with students Organize time effectively Establish and maintaining procedures for referrals Establish standards of conduct in the treatment center Organize physical space for testing of students and providing therapy Delivery of Service

Respond to referrals, and evaluate student needs Develop and implement treatment plans to maximize students' success Communicate with families Collect information and write reports Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness Professional Responsibilities

Reflect on practice Collaborate with other therapist, teachers and administrators Maintain effective data management systems Participate in professional community - providing inservice when appropriate Engage in professional development Show professionalism, including integrity, advocacy and maintaining confidentiality

Terms of Employment: 180 day bargaining unit position; per diem or stipend summer work possible Benefits commensurate with contract
