Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the Special Education Coordinator, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

Primary Function:

Ability to facilitate the development of everyday self-care, pre-academic, and pre-vocational activities for eligible students.

Qualifications:

Must hold a bachelor's degree or higher

Occupational Therapist license

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance

Performs appropriate assessment procedures

Interprets assessment results for teachers, parents, and other personnel

Supports the individual education plan for occupational therapy goals and treatment for eligible students

Administers occupational therapy in accordance with the treatment plan as stated in the individual education plan

Performs on-going evaluation of treatment programs and adapts program as necessary to maximize results

Selects and manages adaptive equipment and/or assistive devices for use with upper trunks, arms, and hands, and aids in elimination of architectural barriers

Maintains appropriate records and reports

Lifts, positions, transfers, and performs special duties to meet the needs of moderately intellectually disabled, severely and profoundly intellectually disabled, and orthopedically impaired students

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
