Description
The responsibilities for this key position include: Developing a command of GAAP, OCBOA, and specialized accounting principles and financial statement presentations. Understanding generally accepted assurance standards and procedures. Drafting financial statements and reports according to standards. Working with HUD mortgages, Section 8 rental assistance, 202/811 programs, rural development loans, and insurance mortgages. Handling LIHTCs and bond-financed affordable housing deals. Performing cost certifications. Supervising assurance and non-assurance engagements efficiently. Communicating effectively with clients to gather necessary information with minimal disruption. Building quality client relationships and loyalty. Applying technical skills and professional standards. Training staff accountants and reviewing their workpapers. Performing a broad range of accountant tasks to minimize direct supervision. Communicating effectively with staff, supervisors, and management. Training and instructing assistants. Participating in planning and scheduling client engagements. Meeting deadlines and time constraints. Evaluating staff performance and providing feedback. Actively pursuing CPA licensure if not already obtained. Requirements
Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree. Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience as a staff accountant in public accounting. Experience with HUD, Rural Development, LIHTCs, Cost Certifications, and bond-financed affordable housing deals. CPA certified or candidate for the CPA exam. Membership in AICPA and NCACPA, as applicable. Excellent client service and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in accounting software and computer use. Valid driver’s license and good Motor Vehicle Record.
