Duffy's Prep Cook Job Description
Reports to: Chef
Job Summary: Responsible for the preparation of ingredients and stations used in the cooking process, as well as maintaining the kitchen and ensuring it is clean and sanitized.
Major areas of responsibility:
• Cut or slice meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking.
• Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
• Weigh, portion, and wrap food.
• Adhere to prep list assigned by Chef.
• Rotate food and print the time and date label for food in coolers.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
• Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen.
• Restock kitchen supplies.
• Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
• Stock storage areas and refrigerators.
• Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
• Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
• Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and order needed items.
• Assist other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide with needed items.
• Use manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floor.
• Maintain Food Handler's Certification.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
