Position Overview
This role involves a blend of clinical and administrative duties to support healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include entering patient information into electronic records, assisting with patient care such as rooming, taking vital signs, and documenting medical histories.
Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety and infection control protocols. Obtain and record vital signs, medication details, chief complaints, and other relevant patient data. Observe and report patient symptoms, reactions, and condition changes promptly to nursing or medical staff. Transcribe patient data using ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing and clinical reporting. Prepare exam rooms and instruments; assist providers with procedures and tests. Collect, label, and process specimens following established policies. Handle contaminated instruments and supplies according to safety guidelines. Prepare and label medications for provider verification and administration. Coordinate prescription orders with pharmacies as directed. Address non-clinical patient inquiries and complaints professionally. Perform additional duties as assigned. Medical Assistant I
Manage a patient caseload of 20+ per day. Medical Assistant II
Manage a patient caseload of 25+ per day. Process referrals, orders, and complete disability forms. Medical Assistant III
Serve as preceptor and trainer for new hires and practice managers on clinical and administrative workflows. Identify and implement operational improvements in collaboration with clinic management. Manage a patient caseload of 35+ per day. Lead billing and coding efforts for medical procedures. Proofread physician dictations and ensure accuracy. Cross-train in all front and back office functions. Qualifications
All Levels
Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and adaptability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow instructions. Medical Assistant I
Preferred relevant clinical Medical Assistant experience; Certified Nurse Assistant experience may be considered. Medical Assistant II
Two to five years of relevant clinical Medical Assistant experience required; CNA experience may be considered. Medical Assistant III
Minimum five years of relevant clinical Medical Assistant experience required. At least three years of subspecialty experience in areas such as orthopedics, cardiology, urology, general surgery, primary care, or other surgical specialties. Education
Medical Assistant I: Graduate of a Medical Assisting program, Certified Nurse Assistant program, or Military Medical Specialist training required. Alternatively, completion of two years of on-the-job training in Medical Assisting or CNA plus a high school diploma or GED. Certification
All levels require current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (healthcare provider). Medical Assistant II and III require CNA or Medical Assistant certification.
Successful candidates must pass a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
