Aston, PA 19014 Job Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) works directly with a student or small group of students who require individualized support to fully engage in school activities. Under the guidance of teachers and the Special Education and Pupil Services Department, the PCA provides instructional, behavioral, and physical assistance to help students succeed in the school environment. Essential Functions Prepare, collect, and organize materials to support student participation in learning activities. Provide one-on-one instructional, behavioral, and physical assistance as directed by the teacher. Support students in small group activities, including reading, storytelling, and practice drills. Maintain daily logs to track student progress and needs. Communicate any concerns or special observations about students to the teacher. Assist substitute teachers by sharing important information about assigned students. Maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior when handling student information. Support students with mobility needs (e.g., use of walkers, wheelchairs, braces, or canes). Assist students with self-care tasks as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by teachers or school administrators. Minimum Requirements Education:
High School Diploma required; additional requirements may apply per the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and reports. Clearances Required: Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance FBI Criminal Background Clearance
Demonstrated Knowledge of: Effective communication techniques with students and staff. Problem-solving strategies to support students with varying needs. Demonstrated Ability to: Follow directions accurately and efficiently. Work closely, supportively, and compassionately with students with disabilities.
