POSITION SUMMARY:

Assistant serves as a staff resource in support of the DRE, OCIA Spanish coordinator, and Family Faith Formation Coordinator, managing administrative functions associated with the programs. This position requires creativity and self-motivation. Coordination and collaboration with staff members and parishioners is crucial. This individual must be open to working hours that involve evenings, weekends, and special events as necessary. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Inputting data in Parish Soft and creating Excel spreadsheets, e.g., registration, receipt of sacramental records, sponsor certification forms and data for Confirmandi and Catechumens. Entering data on mechanized records for class, class attendance, and Mass attendance for individual students. Creating Word/Publisher Documents for handouts. Help with preparing and in some instances translating, information packets for Catechist, Students & Parents. Assisting as a team member in all areas of Religious Education: Family Faith Formation: OCIA, etc. Record sacraments in Sacramental books. Making copies and getting supplies to classrooms during Religious Education Monitors inventory of RE supplies and submit an order request to bookkeeper Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of staff and parish information. Must be flexible as work hours and days may vary. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Must complete the Virtus Training as required by the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Requirements

SKILLS AND QULIFICATIONS:

Bilingual: English and Spanish Ability to work with the varied gifts and talents of other staff members, catechists, parents and students and maintain a teamwork mentality. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint and ability to learn parish administrative programs used in position, e.g. Parish Soft. Able to work independently and attentive to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. with assistance if needed.
