Recreation Specialist Aquatics & Special Events
to lead engaging programs and events that promote wellness, fun, and connection. As a key member of our Parks & Recreation team, you'll oversee aquatic programming and special events while supporting the daily operations of our premier facilities. What You'll Do
Aquatics Leadership Manage the
swim lesson program
and
Torpedoes Swim Team
at the Renaud Center and Alligators Creek Assist with training and certification of
100+ lifeguards and swim instructors Support pool maintenance and operations alongside the Aquatics Operations Specialist Respond to
after-hours emergencies
related to aquatics facilities Special Events Coordination Plan and implement
aquatics-related special events
and a variety of
community-wide events Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to deliver exceptional experiences Serve as Manager on Duty at recreation facilities, ensuring smooth operations and guest satisfaction Program Management Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time staff Manage program budgets, forecast revenue, and ensure cost recovery Maintain accurate participant records and prepare reports Develop promotional materials, manuals, and event rules Act as liaison to schools, community organizations, and vendors Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of recreation program development and implementation Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices Knowledge of recreation facility and equipment management Knowledge of city policies and procedures, including purchasing and budgeting Skill in supervising personnel and motivating teams Skill in using office equipment (computer, calculator, copier, fax) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required 13 years of relevant experience or completion of internship/apprenticeship Valid Missouri driver's license or ability to obtain one CPR certification or ability to obtain Preferred: Certified Parks and Recreation Professional, Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor Why Work for the City of O'Fallon?
