Position Summary The City of O'Fallon, Missouri is seeking a skilled and motivated
Parks Maintenance Worker – Construction Worker
to join our Parks and Recreation team. This position is responsible for assisting in the construction, repair, and maintenance of City parks and related infrastructure, helping to ensure safe, functional, and beautiful public spaces for our community.
Key Responsibilities
Perform construction and facility maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, fencing, and carpentry.
Maintain and service equipment and tools.
Repair and maintain park streets, sidewalks, signs, storm structures, and restore worksites.
Assist with irrigation system repairs and lake maintenance.
Install and repair playground equipment.
Set up and finish concrete and asphalt work, including sidewalks.
Operate a variety of equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, and hand tools.
Purchase supplies and maintain accurate receipts.
Support setup and operations for festivals and special events.
Participate in snow removal operations.
Ensure safe worksite setup and transport equipment and supplies as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of restrooms and maintenance shops.
Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. and maneuver equipment up to 100 lbs.
1–3 years of relevant experience in construction, maintenance, or a related field.
Valid Class A CDL driver's license (or ability to obtain one) issued by the State of Missouri.
Functional supervision experience over part-time employees is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of park maintenance and construction practices.
Proficiency in operating heavy equipment and performing preventative maintenance.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Skilled in welding, fabrication, concrete finishing, and using hand/power tools.
Ability to grade construction sites and perform trenching, shoring, and sloping.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
