The Impact You'll Make in this Role We are seeking a talented and driven engineer with a focus on consumer hardgoods to join the CBG Hardgoods team. As a Consumer Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and bringing to market exciting and high-quality consumer products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of products that meet customer needs and exceed expectations. As a(n) Hardgoods Product Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Leading the mechanical design and development of consumer products, focused on hardgoods. Conducting feasibility studies, concept development, and prototyping to validate design ideas. Utilizing CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to create engineering drawings and specifications. Performing engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure product performance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams for seamless integration of mechanical components. Conducting testing and validation of prototypes to ensure product performance. Identifying and resolving design issues, technical support throughout the product lifecycle. Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in consumer product development. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (completed and verified prior to start) Three (3) years of mechanical design and development of consumer products in a private, public, government or military environment. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and drafting. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Experience in mechanical design and development of consumer products, with a focus on hardgoods. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing). Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work in cross-functional teams. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and time management skills. The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
