Material Handler at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (Civilian employees of the US Navy, a detachment of Norfolk Naval Shipyard) Starting Pay*:
$27.11 (WG-06) Type Full Time, 1st, 2nd or 3rd Shift. This is a non-supervisory position. About NFPC The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is a modern manufacturing facility that occupies a 17-acre site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with more than 750,000 square feet of industrial and administrative floor space. NFPC employs a highly skilled and versatile workforce of engineers, trades people and support personnel who specialize in advanced engineering, castings, and precision machining. Documenting shortages or overages by surveying physical conditions and visually checking/counting the contents of shipping containers. Notifying supervisor/shop planner/planner estimators of discrepancy and initiates corrective actions. Stores stock items in an organized fashion. Submit work request for parts, supplies and materials required to support manufacturing and transportation of assets/equipment. Cross reference national stock numbers to part numbers, determine if material is able to be ordered through federal stock, contractor-operated parts depots or local suppliers. Monitor and adjust inventory. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets. Working from written or oral instructions.
Qualifications Required for the Position High school education Knowledge of warehousing rules, regulations, policies and procedures (including fork truck operations and vehicles safety requirements).
Security Clearance / Background Check required. Your candidacy is subject to approval and acceptance. Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
