SY 25-26 Instructional Assistant - PreKindergarten GENERAL INFORMATION Title: SY 24-25 Instructional Assistant - Kindergarten Department: TC MILLER ACADEMY Salary Grade: Schedule A or B FLSA Status: Non-exempt Site/Location: TC MILLER ACADEMY Reports to: Building Administrator Date: 06/12/2025 POSITION SUMMARY Performs responsible human support and paraprofessional work while assisting classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives; and while assisting students with achieving established goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives. Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning objectives introduced by the teacher. Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by the teacher. Assists with large and small group activities. Guides independent study and other work assigned by the teacher. Reports student problems to the teacher and assists with student problems. Assists with loading and unloading buses. Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch, recess and transitions. Assists with student routines. Performs related work as required. Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Help maintain order in the classroom; monitors students to keep them on task. LYNCHBURG CITY SCHOOLS COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate's Degree; or completed the ParaPro assessment. Some experience in working with children. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
