Facilities Engineer, Environmental (Semiconductor) Position Summary Our client is seeking a skilled
Environmental Senior Engineer
to support environmental facilities at a new Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) site in northwest Phoenix, Arizona. This role is responsible for the
construction, operation, and permitting
of environmental systems, including: WWTS
(Wastewater Treatment Systems – organic, inorganic, BRF) APCS
(Air Pollution Control System) The Environmental Senior Engineer will ensure reliable performance, compliance with regulations, and effective troubleshooting of critical environmental utilities. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workplace while developing documentation such as PM job plans, operating procedures, and training guides. Operate and monitor systems for water, wastewater, air quality, heating, cooling, and chemical handling to meet semiconductor manufacturing specifications. Adjust system controls (valves, pumps, gauges, etc.) to regulate flow, pressure, and temperature within prescribed limits. Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and emergency maintenance to quickly resolve out-of-spec conditions. Ensure operations remain within
environmental regulatory limits ; correct issues and promptly escalate when required. Lead the development and review of system plans, cost estimates, and safety protocols for environmental and facility projects. Coordinate construction, modifications, and upgrades with owners, contractors, and cross-functional teams. Support additional business needs, including participation on the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Wastewater, Atmospheric, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred). Minimum
5+ years
of relevant engineering experience. Strong knowledge of
environmental regulations
(NEPA, TSCA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, OSHA, ISO 14001, EPA certification processes). Proven ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines (automation, water, gas, chemicals, and environmental systems). Expertise in environmental systems such as
UPWS, WWTS, and APCS . Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to work across departments and with contractors/suppliers. Willingness to work overtime or be on-call for emergencies as business needs require. Physical Requirements Ability to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions and in physically demanding positions. Must safely climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces. Exposure to industrial chemical odors and equipment noise may occur. Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs. and wear a personal respirator. Preferred Qualifications Experience with
semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environmental facilities . Background in facility management, optimization, and energy-savings programs. Hands-on experience managing cleanroom utilities and large-scale facility projects. Top of Form Seniority level
