Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Litigation Legal Secretary
to provide high-level administrative and legal support to attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and strong knowledge of legal procedures and court requirements. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, and efficient, with a strong commitment to client service and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Document Preparation & Support
Prepare, revise, and format a variety of legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and emails from written drafts and transcription.
Assemble and organize legal materials for court filings, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations.
Proofread all materials for accuracy, formatting, grammar, and consistency with firm standards. Administrative & Calendar Management
Read and sort incoming mail and emails; distribute as appropriate.
Maintain attorney calendars, including deadlines, court dates, and appointments.
Schedule meetings and coordinate logistics as needed. Technology & Documentation
Utilize legal document management systems (e.g., iManage) for storing and retrieving files.
Operate transcription equipment and utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for drafting and formatting documents. Additional Administrative Duties
Arrange domestic travel for attorneys, including hotel, flight, and transportation accommodations.
Support business development efforts through preparation of pitch materials, PowerPoint presentations, and attorney biographies.
Perform general administrative tasks and provide support as needed. Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a legal secretary in a litigation practice.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with legal document management systems, particularly iManage.
Typing speed of at least 70 WPM with high accuracy.
Ability to manage priorities and support multiple attorneys simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication-written, verbal, and over the phone.
Ability to operate standard office equipment and transcription tools. Preferred Attributes:
