Full time Requirements:
The candidate shall be member of, or at least 5 years of experience working with, the Native Hawaiian Community. The candidate shall have an Experience with oceanography and/or ocean science communication The candidate shall integrate Native Hawaiian cultural knowledge and cultural practices, as appropriate, into sampling plans, documentation, and communications for the upcoming field operations and related outreach activities. The candidate shall provide meeting facilitations or co-facilitations during at least one virtual or in-person (located on one of the Hawaiian Islands) community meeting during which Center scientists and staff will interact with Native Hawaiian Community leaders and members regarding deep sea science of minerals and associated ecosystems and environments. Duties: the candidate shall provide:
Text and revisions to text to contribute to sampling plans, documentation, and communications for upcoming field operations and related outreach activities. Text and revisions to text to contribute to talking points for oral presentations to Native Hawaiian Community members.
Briefings for scientists and other staff involved in research and field operations regarding relevant Native Hawaiian cultural tenets, values, and protocols.
Facilitation or co-facilitation, including planning, logistics, and/or mediation, of at least one virtual or in-person meeting to engage the Native Hawaiian Community in the upcoming research expedition.
