Job Description Summary
The Honors student worker is a position that is mainly designed to 1) provide peer-mentoring for honors students and 2) serve in an administrative support capacity for the honors program.
Specific Duties
The student(s) hired for this position will serve as a peer mentor for all incoming and continuing honors students. This requires: Being available for regular office hours; Answering student emails; Meeting with students in person or, when necessary, via Zoom. The student(s) hired will also:
Schedule various activities such as meetings and/or lunches with Honors first-year and continuing students prior to registration; Organize other Honors activities throughout the duration of the academic year; Work in and supervise the Honors Center; Maintain basic decorum in the Center; Keep the coffee maker and refrigerator clean; Distribute paper and refill ink for printing; Other small administrative tasks as needed; Lead and support various research projects for the Honors program; Should be able to work well in groups and keep the Director up to date on these projects. Minimum Qualifications
Current University of La Verne student with Federal Work Study eligibility for the 2025/2026 academic year. Current member of the Honors Program (in good standing). Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), collaborative programs (Dropbox or GoogleDocs), and Zoom and/or WebEx.

Benefits Summary
Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
