Department: Purchasing Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Location: 632 W. 6th Avenue, 5th floor, Anchorage, AK 99501 Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Example of Duties: Senior Buyer provides procurement services as they relate to obtaining services, general goods and supplies, and technical hardware and software in accordance with applicable laws. Perform all administrative processes required by initiating, reviewing, soliciting, evaluating, and selecting vendors through the solicitation/award function of the procurement cycle. Demonstrate consistent initiative and good judgment and communicate in a clear and concise manner performing job duties and functions as they relate to the process of obtaining goods, supplies and services for the Municipality of Anchorage. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and three (3) years of experience in procurement, bidding, proposals, and contract management OR Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and five (5) years of experience in procurement, bidding, proposals, and contract management OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in procurement, bidding, proposals, and contract management Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire. Preferences: National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) or National Institute of Governmental Purchasing Official (CPPO) through (NIGP) certification Additional Important Information: Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants. If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check.
