JOB SUMMARY

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the transportation program in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.

The Dispatcher coordinates operation of the bus fleet and other school district vehicles through clear, quick, and effective communication.

SALARY:

$23.15-$33.28/hr DOE

SCHEDULE:

4 hrs/day, 181 days/year (Mon-Fri: 6:45am-8:15am and 1:45pm-4:15pm)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

HS education or equivalent 21 years of age minimum Sufficient education and/or training and experience to foster reasonable, mature judgement in everyday situations and special, sensitive situations dealing with confidentiality Self-motivated with a high level of productivity under minimal supervision Valid First Aid/CPR card Valid WA State CDL with S-School Bus and P-Passenger Endorsements Ability (or willingness to learn) to speak Spanish School district transportation experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer skills test required) Ability to learn student information software (WESPaC/Skyward) Ability to work with maps/navigation software and routing information Ability to work calmly and effectively in deadline-oriented, stressful situations Communicate with students, parents, bus drivers, and other District staff by telephone, radio, and in-person regarding new or relocated students and other dispatching issues Establish and maintain successful working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members Work effectively in a multicultural environment and promote appreciation of cultural and racial diversity among students Complete required forms, records, and reports as needed per WA state regulations and/or District policies Calmly de-escalate distraught individuals and/or difficult situations as needed PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide an enthusiastic and positive learning climate that promotes appropriate behavior Interact positively and develop rapport with students, parents, colleagues, and community Be able to sit for long periods of time Have precise control of fingers and hand movements Be dependable, cooperative, adaptable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality Follow directions with minimal supervision Work independently within a larger context of team cooperation Become familiar with all existing routes and help create new routes when needed Make changes to routes as required to maximize route efficiency Substitute as Bus Driver when needed Answer phones and manage calls/messages for the Transportation Department Assist drivers with mapping for special trips Provide additional support to drivers as needed Access and manage Skyward student information on a daily basis Perform related duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor BENEFITS INCLUDE:
