Overview
Lead supplier on-site assessments (OSAs) and action planning for source selection. Lead supplier training and development activities. Manage PPAP processes for new purchased components and major changes to existing components, supporting commodities and product development programs as assigned. Proficient in APQP and PPAP processes with a basic understanding of ISO9001:2015 requirements. Identify and lead projects to reduce external failure rates and internal defect rates annually for assigned commodities. Requires project management skills, strong leadership, interpersonal skills, a customer satisfaction focus, team orientation, and results-driven approach. Strong computer skills in MS Office, data management, and quality management systems, with the ability to work with multiple programs and systems, including basic knowledge of SQL databases, Excel Macros, and Power BI.
Responsibilities
Act as a quality liaison and main contact between suppliers, supply chain, operations, and design engineering for major quality issues affecting product quality. Collaborate with suppliers to obtain and close Corrective Actions, ensuring root causes are properly identified and eliminated.
Address and resolve supplier issues, driving formal corrective actions. Lead tracking and root cause analysis of supplier non-conformances. Recommend appropriate resolutions.
Lead and conduct supplier assessments to qualify new suppliers or evaluate existing ones. Work with the supply base to meet quality standards and develop new suppliers capable of doing so.
Drive part approval (PPAP) and quality improvement processes using tools like PFMEA, process flowcharts, control plans, capability studies, Gage R&R, SPC, etc.
Work with Supply Chain to identify strategic suppliers and monitor their performance via the supplier scorecard system.
Assist suppliers with statistical analysis of process potential (Ppk) and process capability (Cpk) to improve performance.
Develop and implement quality targets and plans with key suppliers. Monitor supplier performance metrics such as PPM, 8D, on-time delivery, PPAP completion, and ECNs at PPAP.
Support suppliers in improving quality and reducing total cost per part by eliminating waste, utilizing Six Sigma and lean manufacturing tools.
Represent the company professionally with external parties, including customers and suppliers.
Establish, review, and approve supplier quality requirements for new product developments.
Support or participate in effective DFMEA and PFMEA processes, ensuring all failure modes are captured, ranked, and actions are taken accordingly.
Maintain professional relationships with managers and personnel at supplier and customer locations.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
Minimum of 5 years of quality-related experience
Experience in multiple functional areas such as Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Manufacturing, or Operations is preferred
Ability to travel 25-50% of the time
