We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Safety and Reliability Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. What You’ll get to Do: The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's System Safety team within Specialty Engineering. Activities include system safety analysis of avionics and navigation systems. They will work with other engineering disciplines to evaluate different programs' Safety Engineering needs, performing safety analyses on new programs and revisiting existing programs’ safety analyses. The ideal candidate will have experience with MIL-STD-882E and familiarity with Military and their equivalent industry standards such as: MIL-STD-1629, DO-178B/C, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, etc. Basic Qualifications: BS in Engineering in a STEM discipline or relevant degree with 12 years of System Safety Engineering experience or a MS in Engineering in a STEM discipline or relevant degree with 10 years of experience in Systems and/or Software Safety Engineering or a PhD with 8 years of experience
Demonstrated ability to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment, and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards
Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering principles in accordance with MIL-STD-882E
Demonstrated ability to identify system safety issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate safety issues
Demonstrated ability to generate/review Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) or FMEA experience.
Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update, and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
Knowledge of engineering drawings and ability to read schematics and parts lists.
Ability to work independently
Demonstrated excellent presentation skills
Able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and customers
US Citizenship
Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
History of demonstrated leadership capabilities
Experience with electrical circuit schematics and FMECA data review
Familiarity with requirements tools such as DOORS, Safety and Reliability tools, Agile software tools, etc.
Strong working knowledge of Military systems safety and process standards and their Industry equivalent such as: DO-178B/C, DO-248, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, MIL-HDBK-516C, etc.
Salary Range:
