Fresh Consulting
Optical Test Engineer (Hardware Test Engineer)
Fresh Consulting is a design-led, software development and hardware engineering company, offering end-to-end digital services to help companies innovate. We bring together amazing UX designers, sophisticated developers, digital strategists, and top-notch engineers to help companies create fresh experiences that connect humans, systems, and machines. We've been growing fast and need someone to help us continue to manage the delivery of high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Role: You will be part of a team that will enable the end-to-end process development of display optic solutions for hardware products. You will be part of a team that will engage with external partners to identify, develop, and deliver full optical testing capabilities that are critical in the overall flow that is needed to produce and test innovative products. Drive alignment on optical performance requirements and test capability. Analyze and visualize the optical performance of hardware at the component level and system level. Develop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and integrated systems (display and optics). Enable external partners to design and develop optical test solutions for image quality that support product development. Leveraging excellent technical communication skills and hands-on prototyping skills, they'll work to develop test software, communicate results, and collaborate on design solutions. Analyze, summarize, and visualize test results to support development and evaluation. Troubleshoot and debug test systems and automation solutions from a software and hardware perspective with full autonomy. Identify the root cause of image quality and performance issues. Participate in test design and development. Skills: 3-5 years years depending on optics experience and education level. Experience with spectrophotometry, interferometric testing, and lens testing. Proficient in spectrophotometry (e.g. lens coating/thin film transmittance/reflectance/absorption characterization) Proficient in interferometric testing (e.g. hands-on experience in using laser, white light interferometers, or chromatic confocal sensors for surface topography characterization) Lens optical performance testing (e.g. wavefront error/MTF/EFL/distortion/geometry). Experience in lens optical testing (e.g. MTF, EFL, distortion, form error) Experience in spectrophotometry (e.g. lens coating transmittance/reflectance/color/haze) Familiar with statistical analysis (e.g. gauge R&R) and data visualization using Python/Matlab/Tableau Familiarity with camera or display optics, and image sensor technology. Experience writing software for hardware applications (robotics, equipment automation) Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for fully automated complex systems Strong knowledge of statistical analysis is desired Demonstrated ability to take initiative to solve problems without explicit directions Education: Ph.D. with experience in consumer electronics metrology space preferred or Master with 3+ years of experience in consumer electronics metrology space. The salary range for this position is $50/hr to $65/hr. Compensation offered will be determined by location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Equal employment opportunity: All qualified persons will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, familial status, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability for which a reasonable accommodation can be made, or any other status protected by law.
