Overview

Optical Test Engineer with SW Dev Sunnyvale, CA Responsibilities

Use metrology equipment to characterize optical components of a VR system. Characterize optical components including roughness or geometry profile of optical elements such as lenses; color profile or spectral response of displays, lenses, etc.; thickness, flatness, and parallelism of optical components. Assess optical performance metrics such as MTF, PSF, and ESF and relate them to the optical response of components. Evaluate polarization or spectral response of optical elements. Align optical components for testing and characterization. Create test experiments and jigs to perform analysis on optical components. Relay experiment results to the engineering team for feedback on optical design. Use ImageMaster Opti-Centric to center optical components for testing. Use ImageMaster HR for MTF measurements and characterization. Use interferometers to test films, lenses, and surfaces geometry and thickness. Characterize display color spectrum and intensity of pixels. Contribute to development of new technology for VR systems including projection technology, light modulation (standard lenses, Fresnel lenses, Meta-lens, thin films), polarization control technology (beam splitters, mirrors, birefringence), simulation for optical systems, optical filtering (thin films, filters, diffusers, polarizers, color filters, selective mirrors), waveguides and prism technology. Software Development Skill Set

Computer Vision Models/Programs are essential (image processing, MATLAB, optical flow, etc.). Advanced software skills are required; Python preferred but Java and C++ fluency also considered. Working experience around AI is a plus. Notes
