Senior Design Engineer
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a detail-focused Senior Design Engineer to support our Airfoil Design Team within our Hot Section Engineering organization based in Asheville, NC. What You Will Do: Partner with operations, quality, procurement, and engineering SMEs to lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and product/process improvements. Support military and commercial airfoil production, identifying Class II engineering changes to enhance quality, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability. Contribute to Cost of Poor-Quality efforts, challenge existing processes, and drive improvements using Pro-Cert methodology and data-driven decision-making. Identify inefficiencies in production support, proactively address recurring quality notifications, and eliminate redundant analysis. Document producibility lessons learned and integrate them into future product development and next-gen hardware design. Travel 10% (Domestic). What You Will Learn: Identify best practices for defect assessment and defining "Right-size Analysis" through a risk-based decision-making process. Address time-critical quality issues to support engine and module delivery. Coordinate evaluation and response to supplier requests for information (eSRI). Plan and manage corrective action activities that drive Quality Notifications (QN) and cost reduction. Qualifications You Must Have: A University degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years prior relevant engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 3 years prior relevant engineering experience. U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract. Qualifications We Prefer: Experience in TeamCenter, SAP, and/or Solumina. Engineering Design experience in the mechanical, structural, aerodynamics, or thermodynamics fields. Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units. Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability, and Product Definition. This role is Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines. The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
