Position Overview We are seeking a Civil Design Project Engineer with preferably experience in land development and transportation projects to design a variety of engineering design services focused on hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, stormwater management, and wet utility design. This role involves managing feasibility studies, preparing detailed design plans and construction documentation, and supporting project permitting.
Minimum Qualifications
Five plus years of experience in Civil 3D, drainage, stormwater management, grading, and wet utility design
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with GIS, MicroStation, or other design and mapping tools
Experience with stormwater modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar preferred
Strong understanding of local stormwater and environmental regulations
Experience working with public and / or private sector land development clients
Knowledge of permitting processes and jurisdictional requirements
PE License (or EIT actively pursuing PE) preferred.
Responsibilities
Design and prepare drainage, site development, or stormwater management plans using Civil 3D, including grading, erosion and sediment control, and utility plans in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and calculations for stormwater conveyance systems
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and permitting agencies
Assist with preparing construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and permitting submittals
Conduct site assessments and collaborate with field teams as needed
Support project managers in delivering quality design documents on time and within budget
Out of state travel may be required
Reporting Structure This role reports directly to the Water Resources Team Lead and offers clear opportunities for career advancement into Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager positions.
Work Location One of the following offices – Dallas, TX and / or Lanham, MD
