The Lukens Lab (www.Lukenslab.com) in the Department of Neuroscience, Harrison Family Translational Research Center in Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases, and the Center of Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG) at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire a motivated Senior Staff Scientist to investigate how the immune system contributes to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. The Lukens Lab is particularly interested in roles played by inflammasomes, immune-based DNA damage sensors, ITAM/ITIM receptors, and microbiota in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disease.
Responsibilities:
Manage independent research projects.
Contribute to training lab members.
Present work at meetings and conferences.
Assist in writing grants and manuscripts.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
Background in neurodegenerative disease, neurobiology, or immunology. Experience with mouse models. Skills in microscopy, cell/tissue culture, molecular biology, RNA-sequencing, bioinformatics, behavior studies, flow cytometry. Science writing interest.
Additional Information:
This is a primarily sedentary, exempt position with benefits. The position remains open until filled, based on project needs and funding. It is located in Charlottesville, VA, and requires background checks and health screening. Application Process:
