Senior Network Engineer
The Senior Network Engineer will design, troubleshoot, and analyze LAN/WAN and VoIP infrastructures with specific emphasis on network integration and architectural designs. The Senior Network Engineer will leverage their substantial expertise in LAN/WAN architecture and design to support customers stateside, global, and branch offices. The Senior Network Engineer will perform continual research and implement new solutions to improve the performance, availability, and security of customer networks. Occasional travel between locations may be required. Duties and responsibilities include: leading efforts to research and implement new solutions to improve the performance, availability, and security of customer networks; providing highest level escalation support to Network and IT support engineers for all network and voice issues; determining which network equipment and solutions are required to best meet customer goals; evaluating new and emerging technologies; designing and deploying managed LANs, WANs, and wireless networks; creating and maintaining documentation as it relates to network configuration; drafting new or updating existing network operations policy and procedure documentation; identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining hardware-, software- and network-related problems; leading efforts to ensure timely customer status updates; performing primary network system administration; installing, testing, and troubleshooting campus and remote-campus network cabling infrastructure; using established tracking system to log requests; working with vendors to resolve issues; analyzing bugs in network systems software; enforcing network security and installation procedures; coordinating vendor on-site visits. Skills required include: strong network management skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse customer and vendor base; ability to support enterprise objectives by training others; demonstrated strong verbal and written communications; time management and organizational skills; ability to work independently and/or on a team; strong troubleshooting skills; excellent customer service skills; demonstrated abilities in TCP/IP, system and network monitoring tools, network administration, Windows OS, network analysis tools, Cisco hardware administration, ITIL methodology. Education and experience requirements include: knowledge of Cisco CSS/ACE/F5 load-balancers, Checkpoint/Cisco/Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco NAC, Cisco Nexus, MPLS, Wireless, and network monitoring systems; 7+ years of relevant technical experience; demonstrated experience working within ITIL service management frameworks; proficiency with instrumenting network devices and services; in-depth knowledge and experience with configuring and upgrading Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches; demonstrated experience administering Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls; demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving transport related problems; demonstrated experience in Layer 2 based protocols in a Cisco environment; demonstrated experience in Layer 3 routing protocols in a Cisco environment; demonstrated experience in troubleshooting VPN issues; experience with SIP protocols, Cisco Call Manager 10.X and Cisco Unified Contact Center platforms; demonstrated knowledge of and ability to configure, maintain, and network operating systems and computer hardware; ability to analyze logs to identify problems and perform root cause analysis; ability to learn and provide support for the corporate network; working knowledge in at least one technical area.
