Position Summary A Project Engineer is responsible for designing and developing product designs, either independently or as part of larger projects.
Scope, Supervision, and Interaction This role does not have direct reports. The Project Engineer has authority and responsibility for the design, verification, and development of assigned projects and products. The role involves communication and collaboration with engineering teams, other divisions, vendors, academic professionals, marketing, customers, government agencies, and technology providers.
Essential Functions
Develop and manage project plans, including reporting status to division staff
Create design layouts and detailed parts
Cross-check design drawings within the team
Design and conduct experiments to confirm performance, reliability, durability, and serviceability
Create prototype drawings and oversee fabrication
Work with suppliers to ensure product performance throughout its lifecycle
Promote active participation in project accountability activities
Collaborate with multifunctional teams to develop products
Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSME preferred)
4 to 6 years of relevant experience
Formal project management training
Proficiency in MS Office, Lotus Notes, and CAD software
Effective communication skills
Team player capable of working through others
Pneumatic design and DFM experience are a plus
Knowledge of APQP and Lean manufacturing practices
