Position Summary St. Johns River State College is seeking a Part-Time Library Assistant to provide library services support including circulation, technical services, acquisitions, and enforcing College and Library policies. This role assists students, faculty, and staff with basic library, technology, and circulation needs while supporting a scholarly and welcoming library environment. About the College - SJR State is a public college located in beautiful northeast Florida along the shores of the St. Johns River. With three campuses in Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns counties, SJR State serves nearly 10,000 students each year from among a population base of 600,000 in one of the fastest-growing areas of the country. Known for its natural beauty and quality of life, SJR State's service area includes St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city; Palatka, the "Gem City of the St. Johns;" and Orange Park, with roots going back to the Spanish period in Florida history.
Duties and Responsibilities
CIRCULATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
Assist patrons with basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, library resources, the College portal, and Canvas. Answer phones, route calls, and take messages. Assist with registration of library users and maintenance of user accounts. Answer directional and informational questions, referring research inquiries to the librarian on duty. Staff the circulation desk and perform associated circulation tasks. COLLECTION AND FACILITY SUPPORT
Process newly catalogued materials and report supply needs. Assist with collection maintenance, shelving, shelf reading, and inventory. Report technical issues with computers, printers, or programs to IT or supervisor. Maintain the security of staff-only library areas. Assist in maintaining a welcoming and scholarly atmosphere in the library. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Maintain usage statistics as needed. Enforce Learning Resources and College policies. Attend training sessions as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by librarian, Shift Lead, or Dean of Learning Resources.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Preferred Qualifications: • Customer service experience. Part-Time
