Instructional Aid Associate Specialist

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking an Instructional Aid Associate Specialist. This position provides front-line information on program services (e.g. general telephone, reception, referral and program information) to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Advises students regarding enrollment waitlists and course-related questions by using OnCourse and the Student Information System to lookup student records. Assist academic advisors by utilizing OnCourse to schedule student advising appointments. The instructional Aid specialist will serve as a course coordinator for one or more CBC general chemistry courses as a part of their core responsibilities, such as design Carmen course page templates and facilitate the implementation of other computer-enhanced instructional materials. Assist general chemistry faculty and lab supervisors in managing course grade rosters and student quiz completion rates in Carmen/Canvas learning management system (LMS) platform; organize department classrooms and instructional materials such as quizzes, syllabi and exams. Responsible for course-related communication and scheduling for one or more General Chemistry sections. This position will administer the preparation and grading of general chemistry exams and post grades from course Carmen pages to the Student Information System (SIS), applies custom Carmen grade cuts in collaboration with the Vice Chair of Undergraduate Studies; submit and post course grades to the Registrar and determine all EN grades. This position will require strong critical thinking skills to deal with complex and data-intensive course administration tasks, such as creating and managing exam and proctor schedules, resolving exam errors and generating enrollment and course data reports. Closely works with general chemistry course coordinators to create, print and prepare exam proctoring material; Trains teaching assistants (TAs) to proctor exams and contributes to the development of office procedures and training materials. Assigns tasks to student employees. Provides logistical support for course instruction such as printing exams and proctoring material. Finds emergency substitutes for General Chemistry lab and recitation TAs using the SickTA listerv. Manages departmental textbook (including Carmenbooks) ordering and maintains and disseminates updated syllabi for Chemistry and Biochemistry courses. Plans and organizes end of academic year events such as scholarship pizza lunch and student/family commencement breakfast event. Identifies and fulfills office supplies orders and assists faculty and staff with travel requests and reimbursements for teaching-related travel using Workday and Concur travel system. Assist faculty and staff with classroom reservations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Basic familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and Adobe Acrobat. Requires successful completion of a background check. Additional Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with undergraduate academic experience and the Student Information System (SIS). 2 years of relevant experience preferred. The pay range for this job profile is $20.24 - $26.44. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications. Location:
