Currently group has 2 ortho spine MDs ready to retire, so replacing them with Spine Neurosurgeons.
Details:

  • Standard clinic day is 12-16 patients / day depending on n e w patients vs follow ups
  • Neurosurgeons work closely with neurosurgery PAs who primarily work the patients up to maximize surgeon time and efficiency
  • Spine surgeons did 1600 cases in 2024 with neurosurgeons averaging 350 cases.
  • Standard schedule is 3 days in clinic, 2 days surgical. A busy surgeon can do 2 days clinic with additional PA support and 3 days surgery
  • Ideally surgeons try to hit 30 surgeries / month
  • Spine Fellowship training preferred but with strong residency program not required
  • EMR: Athena Health

Coverage:

  • Schedules Trauma coverage (with 2nd coverage ), practice NeuroSX coverage .
  • Weekend and total coverage days distributed evenly amongst active coverage surgeons
  • Hospital/ practice coverage are primarily fielded by neurosurgery Pas and escalated to surgeons as needed
  • Trauma coverage primarily goes directly to surgeon on and they decide if they need to go into the OR


Base:

  • Group is a production based model with 55 % overhead contribution and 45 % direct pay for patient related revenues.
    • 75 % direct pay for trauma, 25 % overhead charge on trauma coverage revenues to support neurosurgery PA coverage
  • Neurosurgeon compensation has averaged 1.2M-1.4M the last few years
  • Neurosurgeons do receive a base draw against their productivity payouts for monthly bills. Range has historically been 300K-400K depending on surgeon preference but is negotiable.
  • 1 year salary IG however neurosurgeons surpass quickly moving into the production model and direct coverage pay
