The UNC Department of Neurology is looking for a Pediatric Surgical Epileptologist to join their team.
Clinical Responsibilities:
•Providing medical services
•Training residents and fellows during rotations on:
oInpatient general child neurology
oInpatient epilepsy monitoring unit
oReading routine and stereo-electroencephalograms
oEvoked potentials
oLong-term video electroencephalograms
•Participation in pre-surgical pediatric epilepsy diagnostic evaluations
•Conducting both pediatric neurology and epilepsy specialty outpatient clinics
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
•Established Skills:
oEpilepsy surgery multi-modal diagnostic evaluations
oPlanning for localization of stereo EEG
oInterpretation of stereo EEG
oMultidisciplinary surgical approach planning with neurosurgery
oIncludes laser interstitial thermal ablation
oDeep brain stimulation options for pediatric patients
•Educational and Professional Requirements:
oMD/DO or equivalent degree
oCompleted both a child neurology residency and an epilepsy sub-specialty fellowship in accredited programs
•Licensure:
oLicensed or eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina
•Technical Knowledge:
oWorking knowledge of scalp high-density electroencephalographic recordings
oSubdural grid and depth stereology for pre-surgical epilepsy evaluations
•Certification:
oABPN Board Certified in Child Neurology
oBoard Certified/Eligible in Epilepsy
