The per diem camp nurse is an administrative position that is responsible for the health and well-being of students and staff. The nurse is responsible for compiling all vital medical information on visiting students, relaying info to the instructor staff, providing first aid when necessary, dispensing all medications to students, and maintaining accurate logs on all information. They are also expected to maintain a clean and prepped wellness center.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Report to Head Nurse. Provide ongoing patient care, ensuring the safety and well-being of children attending camp. Provide first aid for minor injuries and illnesses. Refer more serious issues to the appropriate medical personnel. Medication Management

Supervise medication management, ensuring that all medications are input correctly and promptly. Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications. Oversee the safe storage, administration, and tracking of all medications in compliance with legal and medical guidelines. Health Assessments and Communication

Review camper health histories with emphasis on current illnesses, allergies and physical limitations. Communicate health needs of students to instructors and administration, as needed. Contact parents of students that require in-depth care, complicated meds, or unique situations. Communicate with parents regarding on-site health concerns. Complete fast, accurate assessments of health complaints. Documentation and Reporting

Provide first aid for minor injuries and illnesses Refer more serious issues to the appropriate medical personnel. Maintain accurate health logs and incident report logs. Support

Provide any pertinent information about staff members that affects job performance to the Staff Supervisor immediately i.e. Sick staff being sent home or activity limitations. Emergency Response

Provide wellness and medical services, focusing on minor injury treatment, illness management, medication administration, and emergency response for campers and staff. Compliance

Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and ACA standards. Ideal Candidate

California-RN or LVN license. Experience in pediatric, school, camp, outpatient or emergency care is preferred. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Must be available on short notice, no later than 24 hours. Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate (verbally and written) concerns, feedback and information to staff, administration and teachers. Must be a positive, assertive leader with strong supervisory and management skills. Understand and apply pertinent personnel policies, laws, rules and regulations. Must have demonstrated good judgment and decision-making ability. Must be approachable. Must have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be 100% organized. Must be flexible and diverse in philosophies to work with various types of school groups. Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $28-$40/hour, DOE. Employment Type: Per Diem, Hourly.
