This recruitment is to begin filling positions for the 25/26 School Year - Assignments would begin August 11, 2025

Current Vacancy for Immediate Hire:
Multiple Health Paraeducator/CNA positions for 6.0 - 7.0 hours per day / 10 months

Tentative Testing Schedule for this Recruitment:
Written Testing Date: Testing will be held from June 11, 2025, through August 27, 2025. Testing will be 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, exclusively on Wednesdays (walk-in basis, no appointment necessary). Only qualified applicants will receive an email invitation to participate in the testing process.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education and Experience :
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED, Valid Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate/License, and at least one (1) year experience working with children within an organized setting.
Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Special Qualifications upon hire for positions at a school site that is supported by Title I funds include:
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR
  • Obtained an associate's or higher degree (college level) OR
  • Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment.
Licenses and other Requirements
  • Valid California Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate/License
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency.
  • Some incumbents in this class may be trained in and utilize C.P.I. techniques (crisis prevention) as assigned by the position.

Examples of Duties
Under the direction of the Director of Special Education with oversight of an assigned supervisor, perform direct student care and student care related activities, including but not limited to personal care (i.e., toileting, feeding), activities of daily living and other skills necessary for student to be able to access the school environment and make progress toward the mastery of individual IEP goals. Incumbents in this classification may support students to access the learning environment by assisting with mobility limitations and supporting certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction of assigned student(s).
  • Provide assistance, support, and implementation of the healthcare plan and/or IEP plan for care for assigned students, including enteral feedings, catheterizations, site/wound care, monitoring bodily functions and other delegated nursing care duties as assigned.
  • Perform general medical assistance and routine first aid and CPR, according to established procedures as needed; administer medication according to physician instructions or established procedures; respond to students with seizures or other medical conditions needing monitoring, specialized response protocols or instructed interventions for their participation in the school day
  • Assist with the coordination of administering medications to students during the school day according to district policy and procedures.
  • Recognize and support student's special medical or physical needs; notify school nurse or other assigned administrator and keep assigned classroom teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned student(s).
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of manual and electronic health-related records and reports such as confidential student health records.
  • Support and assist students in focusing on work and completing classroom assignments; assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures; assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance; confer with teachers assist students with meeting individual education goals and objectives; report progress regarding student performance and behavior. Work collaboratively with district nurse or other assignment administrator and classroom teacher.
  • Observe and support behavior of students in the classroom and physical education courses according to approved procedures; monitor students during outdoor, lunch/cafeteria, library, callouts, and recess activities as directed; accompany students on field trips, community-based activities, and to/from campus bus loading zone; monitor and report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
  • Assist students with performing and developing independent living and self-help skills; assist with eating and feeding activities, manners, grooming and personal hygiene; assist students with toileting activities, feminine hygiene care and change diapers or soiled clothing as needed; lift students in and out of wheelchairs, lifts, stands, etc.; position or re-position students as needed, including placing them in therapeutic equipment. Assist students in learning and implementing tools supporting self-regulation and executive functioning.
  • Escort students to and from designated school locations such as health office, classrooms or other locations as assigned; assist students during physical education activities and using adaptive equipment as assigned by the position.
  • Report suspected child or substance abuse to assigned site administrator for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and adhering to regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Attend meetings and in-services as assigned.

  • Basic instructional methods and techniques.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

  • Operation of standard office and classroom equipment.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Basic record-keeping techniques.
Ability to:
  • Review and support student IEPs.
  • Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
  • Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students with a range of disabilities and challenges as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Ability to maneuver students with significantly impaired mobility (e.g., use of lift, wheelchair, loading students on and off a bus.)
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Monitor, observe and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate standard office and classroom equipment including a computer.
  • Observe health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain records, prepare routine reports, and maintain confidentiality regarding all student information.
  • Administer first aid, CPR, and medication.
  • Implement toileting programs.

A fully paid District provided medical plan is provided for each full-time classified employee. A full-time employee who does not enroll in a medical plan will automatically be enrolled in the least expensive medical plan.
